•    According to the Mental Health Foundation, every year in the UK 70 million workdays are lost due to mental illness, including anxiety, depression and stress related conditions. This means mental illness is the leading cause of sickness and absence from work.

•    The emotional well-being of children and young people is just as important as their physical health. The early years of adulthood are a crucial time as the mind and body are rapidly developing and children are constantly facing new challenges. Despite the knowledge and awareness of mental health being on the rise, alarmingly, 70% of young people who experience a mental health problem do not receive the appropriate support.

According to The Aviva Health of the Nation Index (2013), in 2012 a total of 202 GPs reported that 84% of their appointments were attributed to issues with stress and anxiety, with 55% reporting mental health issues.
